Inspiring the Next Marine Scientists
Marine Education
The SFU Marine Research Lab at Reed Point Marina is a collaborative space shared by faculty from Simon Fraser University’s School of Environmental Science and the Department of Biological Sciences, in partnership with the Pacific Wildlife Foundation (PWF).
Together, we share a mission to advance hands-on marine science education and research—engaging undergraduate and graduate students, as well as faculty, in real-world marine studies.
Over the years, the docks have supported numerous graduate research projects, including studies on phytoplankton and sea cucumbers. These initiatives often involve live-capture experiments conducted using the facility’s seawater tanks and wet labs, providing an invaluable environment for applied marine research and experiential learning.
